    How Does DERFLY Work?

    DERFLY provides a double barrier against insects!

    It coats the hair with a dry micro-wax (derived from the carnivorous plant Nepenthes), preventing insects from settling on the coat and biting. It works through a mechanical action: when the insect comes into contact with this micro-wax, it becomes destabilized and falls off automatically.

    It masks the horse’s natural scent, creating a misleading odor for insects.

    Properties

    DERFLY is extremely rich in fatty acids. It creates a natural film that coats the hair and offers UV protection. It promotes the absorption of fat-soluble active ingredients into the hair. Coconut oil, high in lauric acid, forms a film on the hair surface, providing hydration and nourishment.

    Its high content of shea butter, rich in unsaponifiables (karitene, cinnamic esters, vitamins A and E), absorbs UV rays, offering natural sun protection and helping to prevent photosensitization. It restores the skin’s hydrolipidic film, improving hydration. DERFLY forms a film that is water-resistant—even after rinsing or in rainy weather.

    The combination of active ingredients and the aromas of specific essential oils temporarily alters the horse’s natural body odor (such as sweat), which is responsible for attracting insects. As a result, the horse no longer emits a detectable scent to the insect’s olfactory system.

    Dosage / Directions for Use

    Brush the horse beforehand.

    Shake the bottle and pour a small amount of DERFLY onto a cloth or grooming glove.

    Apply against the direction of hair growth. This step is crucial to ensure the mechanical action takes effect.
